Request It! Recalls, Holds & Traces

If you are unable to find a book on the shelf where it belongs, you may request that library staff trace it by filling out a form at the main Circulation desk.
 
If the item is checked out and you are a student, staff, or faculty member, you may place a recall at the Circulation Desk, or by calling us at 303-492-7477, or by e-mailing us at norcirc@colorado.edu. Just be sure to include the call number of the book and your ID number.
 
You may also recall books yourself through Chinook -- the online catalog. If you see a book you want and it displays a due date, just click the Request It!  button.

All books are subject to recall.

Note If checked out materials are available through Prospector, we encourage you to order a copy that way as it is generally much faster (3-5 days vs 10) than recalling our local copy!

 

Why This is an academic research library system. Libraries materials you have checked out are needed by others. In order to serve the needs of all our patrons we require library materials be returned upon notification.

 

Who This applies to all borrowers, without exception.

 

Rules All users are guaranteed a 14 day checkout (excluding short term checkouts of less than 14 days). After that, any book may be recalled for another University patron, or for Course Reserve. Typically, you are given 10 days to return the item, unless it was already due in less than 10 days. An email notice is sent the same day that an item is recalled, so the clock starts ticking immediately!
