2008 CALL FOR
NOMINATIONS FOR THE MARIE AND MARTHA CAMPBELL AWARD
Past Recipients
CAMPBELL AWARD FOR STAFF EXCELLENCE
The fifteenth annual Marie and Martha Campbell Award for Staff Excellence is your opportunity to acknowledge the worth and dedication of a co-worker, a valued staff member with whom, or for whom, you have worked. You are invited to show your appreciation by nominating a colleague for the award in recognition of that person’s outstanding contributions to the Libraries. The award will be presented at the 2008 awards ceremony, and the chosen nominee will be immortalized with a photograph with a name plaque, or only a name plaque, displayed on the 3rd floor of Norlin Library as a public acknowledgement of his/her award. Awardees have the right to accept or decline the award, accordingly.
What is the Area of Excellence Being Recognized?
The Campbell Award emphasizes service to the Libraries, not to the University as a whole or to the community. A staff member may be nominated for accomplishments during the recent year, during several recent years, or for a specific time period (such as for outstanding performance on a specific project).
What is the Award?
The award is a cash prize of $1,000.00, subject to taxation. (Alternatively, if the money is used for Libraries-related activities there is no tax penalty).
Who May Nominate Staff?
Any member of the Libraries staff or faculty may nominate any full-time permanent Libraries staff person. We recommend that you not tell the employee whom you nominate. Re-nominations are gladly accepted. Anonymous nominations and self-nominations will be not be accepted.
Hardcopy or electronic... it’s your choice
The Award Nomination Form will be posted on norlin@lists. A hardcopy will be sent promptly to anyone who requests one. You may submit an Award Nomination using either the hardcopy or the electronic form.
What Else is Attached?
In addition to your nominating letter, each nomination must include at least two but no more than five support letters or e-mail documents. Nominations and documents may be gathered from any department or division, not necessarily the nominee’s own. You may re-nominate previous nominees and you may resubmit existing documentation. Confidentiality is expected.

The deadline for submission of nominations to the Awards Committee is Monday, March 31, 2008.
