This conference will take place August 11-13 and 16-17. It will be a free confence open to all, but we ask that all attendees register. Please check out the information below.
Conference Schedule
Please join the OPAL session room as early as 15 minutes before the session begins. This will allow time for possible necessary troubleshooting and allow the session to start on time. Unless noted otherwise, all sessions last an hour.

Welcome & Keynote Speaker: Gabriela Schneider, from the Sunlight Foundation Gabriela Schneider, Communications Director of the Sunlight Foundation, a non-profit, non-partisan organization involved in the open access of government information, will join us to discuss the history, mission and current work of the Sunlight Foundation including online resources for librarians. She’ll discuss the current state of open government on the federal level including policy, legislation, and what they’d like to see, and will cover other actors in the open government arena. Strategic Planning for the Depository Program: Facing Challenges Speakers: Jennie Burroughs, University of Montana, Valerie Glenn, University of Alabama, Pat Ragains, UNR The Federal Depository Library Program faces major challenges. Pat Ragains will provide an overview of the issues, Jennie Burroughs will talk about strategic planning among regionals, and Valerie Glenn will give an overview of the Association of Southeastern Research Libraries (ASERL) initiative led by Judy Russell, Dean at the University of Florida and former Superintendent of Documents. |
