Colorado's Genealogical Organizations

Web site lists a variety of ethnic and racial group associations in Colorado.

For example: Boulder Genealogical Society (BGS) holds monthly meetings in Boulder with guest speakers on a variety of research issues/topics. Free and open to the public. BGS also sponsors beginning workshops.

The Black Genealogy Search Group holds monthly meetings in Denver and offers speakers and workshops. Open to the public.

Boulder Public Library (BPL) Carnegie Branch Library

Houses the Boulder Genealogical Societys (BGS) Genealogy Collection.

 Volunteers can assist with research tips and suggestions.

BGS volunteers available for assistance/consultation during the following hours:

M 2 - 4 p.m. & 7 - 9 p.m., T 2 - 4 p.m., W 10-12 p.m. & 2 - 4 p.m., TH 2 - 4 p.m., F 2 - 4 p.m., Sa 2 - 4 p.m.

Latter-day Saints Family History Centers, select "Mountain States."

Family history centers are located throughout the state. One need not be a member of the Church to use their collections. Genealogical fairs and exhibits are offered periodically. Call for information or explore Family Search.

 Quote from their Web site: " The centers listed in this directory are generally open at least twenty-five hours a week. Before you visit, contact the center to determine the hours of operation and any needed directions to find the center."

The Colorado Genealogical Society offers programs and classes held at DPL throughout the year.

This Web site lists scheduled classes. Usually held on Saturdays for a small fee.

 Offers 1/2 day workshops in spring and fall for a small fee. Usually limited to 25 people.
