CU students / staff / faculty: Retrieving Articles During Construction

The construction within Norlin Library is nearly complete, and we're working to return bound journals to open stacks within Norlin (this is tenatively scheduled to be completed at the end of fall 2009 semester). Until then, CU students, staff and faculty need to follow the steps below to request articles and specific volumes of some of the journals owned by the CU Libraries:

Searching for a journal / serial via Chinook

If you have searched Chinook for a particular journal / serial, and you encounter the location: 'Request an Electronic Copy' choose one of the following:

Request a specific article

 

1. Click on 'Request Electronic Copy' from the Chinook record.

2. Complete the Article Finder Form with specific citation detail. [More information on deciphering citations]. Example:

3. Select 'Find Article' button.

 

4. Next, look for the full text in the 'Find it at CU' window. The Find it at CU window, will determine if you can access the article in full text or if you need to request an electronic copy.

If available electronically, retrieve by selecting a link to full text.

5. If the article you need is not available in full text, choose Interlibrary Loan.

6. Enter your identikey and password.

 

7. Check citation detail.

 

8. Submit request. You will receive an email when the article is available.

If you are having any difficulty with article retrieval, please Ask US.


Request one volume of a journal / serial (for volumes of journal with the location "Request Electronic Copy"):

  1. Search Chinook for the appropriate journal.
  2. Select the "Request It" button at the top of the screen.
  3. Login with your Identikey username and password. Make sure you select a pickup location from the dropdown menu.
  4. Select the appropriate volume. Only one volume per request. To retrieve multiple volumes contact Access Services or call 303-492-7477.
  5. Submit the request by selecting the 'REQUEST SELECTED ITEM' button at the bottom of the page.
  6. If your request was successfully placed you should see a confirmation message.
  7. You will be emailed when your materials are ready. Expect to be contacted in approximately one business day.

Request multiple volumes of one journal/serial (for volumes of journal with the location "Request Electronic Copy"):

Waiting for an article (more than 3 business days)
