1997: 2-26 | 4-21 | 6-16 | 7-21 | 8-17 | 10-20 | 11-17 | 12-17

April 21, 1997

Present: Dean J. Williams; Nancy Emery, Chair; Wendy Baia, Suzanne Genz, Barbara Greenman, Skip Hamilton, Carol Jacobson, Barbara McMynn, Curt Williams.

I. Barbara Greenman was introduced as the LAB archivist. She will be responsible for keeping old and new minutes, and documents related to LAB activities. This new position resulted from Nancy and Suzanne's review of documents passed on by previous LAB's and a realization that some of those records needed to be maintained. The position of recorder will continue to rotate among select members of the current LAB. Next year, it is anticipated that a permanent secretary, for the year, will be one of the board's officer's.

II. The Dean's meeting with Faculty and Staff was the next topic of business.

a. Skip presented an organized list of questions received from the faculty and staff.. Certain questions received after the deadline were also considered. A question concerning Charlotta Hensley was not included because it involved personnel matters. The Dean indicated that by policy such matters were not for public discussion.

b. Assignments for the meeting were reviewed as well as finalizing the setup for the continental breakfast and clean - up.

c. Barbara McMynn had a list of evaluation questions which were used after the last Dean's meeting. The board members reviewed these questions. Barabara will send out these same questions by e-mail to the faculty and staff to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the meeting.

III. The next topic of discussion concerned the preparations for the Libraries' Honors Reception on May 28. Curt and Carol reported that they met with the members of the Dean's Social Functions Committee and the Staff Awards Committee to finalize coordinating the event. Jim asked that we keep the same format as last year, reqarding recognition of the honorees.
