May 15, 2000 Present: Sharon Gause, Chair; Jim Williams, Dean; Carol Krissman, Carl Stewart, Sue Williams Building Concerns: West Porch Trash Receptacle--it has been returned to next to the doorway. The Dean communicated our concerns to Jeff Lipton and Alan Nelson of Facilities Management. Both areas look very nice right now following Commencement clean-up, and Jim will send a "thank you." The LAB has concerns, however, about the continuing maintenance of the West and East Porch Entrances and the possible degradation in the near future as bags ofd ripping trash are dragged across the entrances. West Porch Planters--an independent committee of concerned staff has replanted the planters and organized watering. Thanks to donations of plants and monies there is a little cushion to help maintain these at least until the expected auctioning off of the junipers that should last at least another winter. Temporary Science Discovery location in Norlin basement offices--no new information since the posting of information in the Cabinet Minutes. Awaiting report from Fire Marshall. Phil deStafano is finding out specifics of what "temporary" means if Science Discovery moves in. Vacated Journalism Space on 5th floor (available by Fall)--Norlin Scholars program has requested some of this space. Hopefully additional space will be available to Libraries Faculty in these offices. Deans Meeting Minutes: The March meeting minutes will be posted on the LAB web page at: http://ucblibraries.colorado.edu/internal/lab/minutes.htm. Colorado Peak Performance (CPP): The Dean has asked Scott Seaman to post information to Norlin List about how the Libraries' supervisors and other staff should proceed in light of the repeal of CPP by the legislature. Johan Suggestion boxes: Electronic email box was empty. LAB Administrative Stuff: Curt Williams, LSA Chair, has been contacted for a temporary replacement for Lisa Gould while she is on leave. We discussed possibility of a temporary replacement for Naomi Heiser, while she is also on leave but tabled that discussion until the Fall. Respectfully submitted: Carl Stewart |
