Next month's (January 05) meetings with the new committee roster are scheduled for Mon 10 Jan without the Dean and Mon 24 Jan with the Dean, both in the Dean's conference room at 10a.
OLD BUSINESS
1. Update on accessible Libraries meetings locations: Center for British and Irish Studies (CBIS) is reserved Jan-May 05 on Tuesdays from 8a-1p. A similar block will be negotiated each semester. Meeting conveners are encouraged to schedule most Libraries meetings there and then – additional procedural information will be announced to the list.
2. Libraries administration and Fac Man are aware of the Norlin first floor west restrooms issues and will monitor on an ongoing basis.
NEW BUSINESS
1. We discussed concerns re: lack of committee participation by staff, and concluded that this is a chronic and a difficult-to-address issue, which the LSA may wish to consider.
2. The Dean will issue a definitive statement about the absolute illegality of declaring a “Dean’s Day.” It was noted that the last dean on campus to do so was forced to recall his announcement.
3. We discussed a variety of possible solutions for enforcing food and drink policies in the Libraries, especially related to use of the Norlin Underground. This will be discussed with UMC Food Service, and Pat Morris will draft new signage. The internal food and drink policy statement will be posted to the list to clarify what applies to staff and what to enforce or notify security about.
4. Fac Man has repaired the equipment problem that caused the recurrent “moaning” noise in Technical Services.
5. We discussed possible procedures for tracking building issues.
Submitted by Deborah Fink, Faculty Recorder for December.
