1. Fall All Libraries Meeting
- Scheduled during fall break closure Thursday Oct 13 in CBIS.
- Refreshments at 10:45, call to order at 11a.
2. Update on Smoke Free Zone for Norlin
- Some ashtrays have been moved by Fac Man, but one remains on the west.
- Scott has a call in for progress on signs, currently at architectural review.
- The Wellness Center will schedule an educational event and give away personal ashtrays; is also applying for a grant to purchase 3 benches.
3. Update on accessible meeting spaces in Libraries
- CBIS not available for meetings Mon-Thu during business hours and not available most Fridays.
- Systems will be asked to explore the installation of web casting/video conferencing from N410 to personal computers
4. Curt will follow-up with Scott on Norlin building concerns reporting.
5. Consistency in allowing Administrative Leave:
- Inconsistencies in granting of leave have been brought up from many units and across divisions
- The Cabinet will encourage staff and faculty to use Administrative Leave within the established guidelines (pdf) to take advantage of professional and educational opportunities as long as responsibilities are handled. This issue will also be added to the all-staff meeting agenda.
6. Other concerns:
- In response to the most recent P.S. Dept. Heads minutes re: Katrina-displaced students, it was noted that: the Libraries has sent a student Buff Bulletin welcoming all and directing students to reference desks and the online Quick Guide, Circulation is expediting the input of new students into the circulation system, and the Tulane college catalog is available at http://www.collegesource.org.
- All Libraries staff and faculty are encouraged to consider serving on various committees as this year's terms of service conclude.
