Minutes: April 23, 2008
Present: Jim Williams, Tim Carpenter, Jennifer Davis, Jennifer Knievel, and Sue Williams
1. Employee flex-time policies: Based on a number of factors, the Dean has
requested that the Technical Services Division review its current policies.
2. LAB summer meeting schedule: The LAB doesn't usually meet
during the summer months. With the numerous construction projects it may be necessary to meet so three dates have been set aside.
3. Locations for photos of Campbell & Ellsworth award winners:
There is no room on the alcove walls to hang the photos for the most recent Campbell & Ellsworth award winners, so a new home needs to be found for them. The LAB discussed six or seven viable locations for the photos to be relocated. These options will be sent to the Campbell and Ellsworth Committees for their recommendations.
4. Quick Fix Committee: This committee has not had a chance to meet to do a mock up of a publically accessible system for posting requests and actions taken. When the system is developed, it will be presented to the LAB, John Culshaw, and Shelley Joy for review.
Also, the LAB recommends that one member of the Quick Fix Committee be invited to join the Construction Committee for the Commons.
5. Spring 2008 All Libraries Meeting Feedback: The LAB received a lot of positive feedback on this meeting. It was suggested that future formats follow a pattern of 1/2 hr. for food, one hour for the structured meeting, a transition period to allow folks who need to leave at that point the opportunity to do so, and a short period after the meeting for questions. Additional All Libraries Meetings may be held during this next year for construction updates, etc.
6. 2008 Spring Awards Ceremony: The Spring Awards Ceremony will be held in the Business Library on May 15, 2:00-4:00 pm. LAB members will assist the Social Functions Committee in set-up and clean-up. Also, Curt Williams, as LAB chair emeritus, has graciously volunteered to emcee the ceremony.
Our meeting was brief so that we could attend the Commons update at 11am.
The next LAB meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 28, 2008 from 10am to 11:30 am.
