Minutes: April 27, 2011
Initially, we discussed some logistics. Candy Gobrecht and Lisa Gould were to have access to an email suggestion box for the Libraries, but it has not been implemented. Both will follow up with LIB-IT regarding a log-in.
Stephanie Yuhas noticed that the web site for the LAB had not been updated. She requested that John D. update the membership on the Committees page. Lisa will follow up with John regarding posting minutes and updating the LAB page . Stephanie will ask John D. to post recent minutes from the All-Libraries meeting.
The bulk of the meeting focused on the problem of smoking in the recently constructed outdoor classroom near the east doors. Lisa mentioned that the Staff Council for the campus had discussed five phases of enforcement of a smoking policy for the UC Boulder campus. Supposedly, smoking is not permitted within 12 feet of building entrances. Lisa agreed to follow up and clarify the policy with the Staff Council and Facilities.
As a first step, the committee agreed that we should work with Facilities Management to obtain signage for all Norlin Library entrances and the outside classroom area. Jim Williams indicated the Libraries would volunteer as the test case to implement policies at all Library buildings including the branches.
