Overview
The Libraries
Quick Fix Committee is an independent Libraries-wide committee which reports
directly to the Libraries Advisory Board. Membership is comprised of four
(4) individuals from the Libraries. Members will serve staggered two-year
terms. Initial terms for the committee will be determined by the Libraries
Advisory Board. The Libraries Advisory Board appoints individuals to the
committee. Representation from faculty and staff, branch libraries, and all
divisions is desirable.
Charge
QFC is a place in the Libraries to go to make a complaint or suggestion about anything in the physical environment that needs to be fixed around the Libraries.
All complaints will quickly be acknowledged and fixed, or referred to the party that could fix it. The status of all complaints will be tracked until it is fixed, denied or deferred. This list of complaints and status will be accessible to Libraries personnel.
Libraries faculty and staff are askedto submit complaints or suggestions to the QFC using the form to the right. QFC will acknowledge receipt of complaints quickly, investigate the issue, contact those who might have the ability to make the improvement, track the status and follow up on pending issues until the issue is resolved.
Ongoing Investigations
A log of complaints and suggestions along with their status is available all Libraries Faculty and Staff.
A spreadsheet sample.
Procedure Notes
Generally, most issues will first be taken to a department head(s) if there is one before talking to other department staff or faculty. If an issue is particularly sensitive or those contacted do not follow up quickly, the issue will be referred to LAB. For the QFC to be effective, clear communication and cooperation will be needed with the LAB by periodically checking in with LAB via email or in person as needed. A method of working with Administrative Services/Building Proctor(s) regarding the issuance of work orders and follow up must be agreed upon.
The QFC is working on a trial basis at the request of the LAB, and procedures will be refined as needed if this system proves workable at all.
