Prototypes: A Disjointed History
|
In preparing for a lecture on how this website came about, I dug back into a number of diskettes and found a number of prototype designs for the home page and for the departmental pages. They are listed here to show some of our site's evolution. It was not a linear process and involved feedback from WIG members and advisors as well as Libraries staff over an extended period of time. This is the process through which we established the basic graphic identity of the University Libraries website. I made fourteen mock-ups between 28 June 1996 and 8 October 1996 based on feedback. The big graphic breakthrough is libraries08.html --where the the site logo makes its first appearance. The last mock-up is almost there, still requiring some button revisions and background color changes. The bulk of the work still remained to be done between then and six months later when we took the wraps off the site on 7 April 1997. John Dziadecki |
