Oliver C. Lester Math Physics Library

The Oliver C. Lester Library, one of five branches of the University of Colorado at Boulder library system, was established in 1972.

 

The collection covers the fields of mathematics, physics, atmospheric sciences and astronomy and contains more than 80,000 volumes and about 1,000 journal subscriptions, both print and online.  

 

We are located on east end of the Duane Physics Building on the second floor.

 

Parking can be found in a metered lot between Benson Earth Sciences and the Math Building or in the Euclid Parking Garage at any time.  Parking is available in a lot to the east of Duane evenings and weekends only with payment made at a kiosk in the lot that accepts credit cards as well as cash. MAC iBooks are available for check out by UCB students, faculty and staff.  They check out for 4 hours, but not overnight.  They have wireless internet/printing capabilities. A group study room that can accommodate a group of 6-8 is available.  The key is checked out at the Circulation Desk for 2 hours at a time.   

The Lester Library has complete wireless coverage, including in the group study room.  Only those with a CU Identikey can log into the wireless network.  Most of Duane Physics is also covered as well.  Wireless availability campus-wide can be determined by the ITS map of coverage.

Staff members are available to answer questions and provide general instruction on using the library weekdays: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.

A photocopier is available.  The cost is $.15 a page and the copier will accept coins and $1 or $5 bills. Copy cards may be purchase from a vending machine in the Library as well.  Printing from the public computers is available for $.10 a page. The printer does not accept money so you must have a printer card.  The student ID card is the printing card for CU Boulder students.  All others must purchase a card in Norlin Library for printing.  Printing cards and copy cards are not interchangeable

New books remain on the New Books shelf for one week. A monthly list of new
books by discipline can found on Chinook.

Suggestions for additions to the collection are welcomed. Request purchase forms are available at our Circulation Desk. Materials may also be requested by email to the Math/Physics Library <mph@colorado.edu> or to the Department Head <suzanne.larsen@colorado.edu>.
