Research Assistance / Instruction
Reference Services
The reference staff is available from Monday-Friday from 10 am - Noon and 2 pm - 4 pm to help you with your research. You can ask the reference staff anything, from locating a particular score or article to getting started with a research paper, they are here to assist you. Feel free to come to the desk, or call at 303-492-8093.

If you have a question, but you are not in the library, you can email the reference staff at mus@colorado.edu with your question and they will get back to you in 3 to 4 business days.
Instruction
The College of Music offers two classes in music research, which are required for some students. Check with your advisor or the course catalog for more details.
Introduction to Music Research — MUS 2988 (Undergraduate)
This class introduces music research and writing skills to provide tools necessary for successful composition of formal research papers. It applies interests and curricular goals to specific topics of student choice.
Introduction to Music Bibliography & Research — MUS 5708 (Graduate)
This class explores basic informational sources about music and musicians; a study of the citation of sources, research, and writing techniques employed in music research papers, theses, and dissertations. It is required in all master's degree programs and doctoral students if they have not completed a music bibliography course elsewhere.
