(Epsteen) Emily Wood Epsteen Collection
Description
Nineteenth and early twentieth century children's fiction and nonfiction, plus elementary, secondary, and higher education American textbooks. The collection includes large runs of periodicals, such as St. Nicholas. There is a small collection of Epsteen's personal papers (see "Related Materials" below).

The collection is completely catalogued, with nearly all records online.
Arrangement
The children's fiction and nonfiction are arranged by call number. Textbooks are grouped roughly by subject, then subarranged by main entry.

84 shelves (ca. 2940 v).
Access
The majority of the collection can be searched in Chinook; the remainder are accessible via the card catalog. Advance notice of the materials to be requested is appreciated.
Provenance
The original collection was given to the University Libraries by Emily Wood Epsteen, and has been augmented by further gifts and purchases since then. It was transferred to Special Collections from the Education Library in March 1965. The core of the textbook collection was transferred to Special Collections from the Education Library in the 1966-67 fiscal year.

(Folsom/Elting) Franklin Folsom/Mary Elting Collection
Description
Predominantly twentieth century children's books by Franklin Folsom and Mary Elting in a variety of languages, mainly English, French, Dutch, German, and Spanish. Non-roman alphabet languages represented in the collection include Russian, Japanese, Bengali, and Hindi. There is a collection of Folsom and Elting's professional papers (see "Related Materials" below).
